The Hawaiian Gardens City Council voted Nov. 12 to accept the completed FY2023–24 arterial and residential Street Rehabilitation Project 112 and authorized the city clerk to file a notice of completion, public works staff reported.
Public works staff said the contract was awarded on March 12, 2025 to Sequel Contractors (Santa Fe Springs) after the city received eight sealed bids. The lowest responsive bid was $1,248,182; staff set a 10% construction contingency for a total construction budget of $1,373,182. The project included cold milling, asphalt overlay, crack sealing, curb and gutter and sidewalk replacement, ADA ramps, traffic striping, detector loop replacement, and new street name signs. The city reported three change orders to accommodate art wrapping of utility boxes and additional concrete work at City Hall.
Staff said the project was completed on schedule and within budget with a final construction cost of $1,351,990.13. The City of Lakewood contributed $33,200 to cover the shared intersection improvement at Norwalk Boulevard and Centralia Street. Council voted to accept the improvements and file the notice of completion.
Staff said the work improves ADA compliance and pavement condition in the listed project segments and thanked public-works and engineering staff for the award-winning project.
