The North Allegheny School District board on Nov. 12 approved routine consent items across minutes, human resources, student services and superintendent folders, and took time to recognize retiring staff and departing board members.
Minutes for Oct. 15 and Oct. 29 were approved unanimously. The HR folder — including resignations, retirements, appointments, wage and status changes, leaves, tuition reimbursements and supplemental contracts — passed; the board specifically acknowledged the retirement of Dr. Matt Heckman, principal of Hosack Elementary, who the board thanked for 12 years of service.
Student activities reports highlighted Quiz Bowl success on a televised contest and Model UN awards; Student Council reported a canned food drive with a 5,000‑can goal. Student services presented MOUs for telephone interpretation and portal translation with TransPerfect and an agreement with the intermediate unit for deaf and hard‑of‑hearing services; those items passed.
Board members offered farewell remarks to three colleagues who chose not to run for reelection, thanking them for service and noting the volunteer nature of school board work in Pennsylvania. Several board members reflected on the district’s capital improvements and programmatic successes before adjourning the meeting.
Outcome: Multiple consent and action items passed (minutes, HR folder, student services MOUs, superintendent's packet); the board publicly recognized retirees and outgoing members.
