At the Nov. 12 meeting the commission opened a discussion about a council directive to review and update Kenai Municipal Code Title 14 subdivision regulations to support housing and development priorities.

Planning staff said the administration has identified housing as a high priority and has received preliminary project concepts from developers. Staff recommended reviewing subdivision regulations and relying where appropriate on council‑adopted policies (road design, water and wastewater standards) that can be updated more nimbly than code.

Commissioners agreed the topic would require additional work sessions and close coordination with public works and engineering standards. Staff said they will return with more detailed materials and suggested policy options for the commission to review.
