The Agua Fria Union High School District governing board approved the consent agenda after Board member Colton requested to pull two items for discussion: the graduation facility rental (item 615) and the hilltop property (item 621).
Mr. Huffman told the board the procurement process for the graduation facility was re-run after a cancellation last year and that the district secured Desert Diamond Arena for the current year. He said the procurement was structured so that other districts could piggyback on a multi-year (five-year) agreement, and that staff judged the two vendor responses suitable for the district's needs.
On the hilltop property, staff reported ongoing construction progress, permitting steps being finalized, and coordination across multiple partner organizations. Mr. Huffman said the project currently has excess dirt stored at Litchfield Park property and that Sun Health has agreed to accept the dirt to keep the construction schedule from delaying the school's opening. He explained the board previously authorized certain district leaders to sign contracts and that the requested approval would permit staff to continue necessary contract execution when delays would otherwise jeopardize project timelines.
After the discussion the board moved and approved the consent agenda as presented; recorded votes show Silk, Colton, Landis and Acton voting yes.
