Harry Klinkhammer, historical resources manager, presented two draft brochure designs for the board to review, saying the interior content is the same and the exterior cover is where the designs differ. Board members recommended the second option with a rounded image on the cover and suggested making the oval slightly larger so more background appears.
Chair Beebe said one of the board's goals is to update the board color palette in the guidelines, observing that approved colors are outdated and that whites and lighter tones are now commonly used. Beebe said Sherwin‑Williams has agreed to pull together a proposed palette and the chair hopes to have a proposal by the next meeting.
Staff also announced upcoming events and logistics tied to the centennial celebration: a follow‑up board meeting on Dec. 11, a Venice Museum holiday open house Dec. 13 (5–7 p.m.), and centennial signage and tree‑lighting plans tied to parade activities. Staff noted that, for the current year, no Venice properties were included on Sarasota's "6 to Save" list of at‑risk properties.
What happens next: staff will work with the brochure designer on the preferred cover option, circulate an updated rendering and finalize color‑palette proposals for the board to review at the next scheduled meeting.
