At the Nov. 12 meeting the Affordable Housing Trust Fund's fundraising subcommittee summarized a plan to expand grant-seeking and partnerships ahead of spring deadlines.
The subcommittee lead described work to build a database of grant opportunities and prospective nonprofit partners, noting many grants require a 501(c)(3) partner. The four-part timeline presented calls for establishing community partnerships between December and February, setting quantified fundraising targets tied to projects, codifying goals before April–May grant deadlines so applications can be prepared, and conducting an analysis of lessons learned by August–September.
The plan identifies possible community land-trust partners (the lead said they will recontact Laura Christopher to check progress on nonprofit (501(c)(3)) status), and proposes targeted email outreach and a short-term campaign to pursue grants due in the spring. The lead suggested drafting a concise narrative about the senior repairs program and homeowner assistance program to share with banks and prospective funders to demonstrate impact.
Chair Gravalese asked the lead to organize a subcommittee meeting after this session, offer to help with the narrative for senior repairs, and tag institutional partners into follow-up outreach. The board expressed general support for the approach and asked staff to coordinate next steps.
Next steps: the fundraising lead will reach out to proposed partners, finalize the calendar of grant deadlines and outreach, and convene the subcommittee to distribute tasks.
