The City Council and Committee on Finance cleared a package of orders, ordinances and routine items during the Nov. 12 meeting.

On the public‑works side, the council adopted an order allowing Verizon New England to install a 4‑inch underground conduit on Innovation Way (a roughly 140‑foot run from manhole #8 near 1100 Innovation Way to a handhold near 1151 Innovation Way). John Moore, representing Verizon, confirmed the route and said the conduit would provide telecommunications and distribution service to the site; engineering required curb‑to‑curb pavement restoration perpendicular to the curb line. The council adopted the order by voice vote and recorded the motion as carried.

Other enacted items included the adoption of a 1‑way designation for June Street (southerly from Prospect to Maple), salary ordinance amendments for the Emergency Management Agency director and others, routine license and renewal reports from the police chief, and acceptance of a $100,000 United Way grant to purchase equipment intended to enhance firefighter safety and emergency preparedness.

Several traffic ordinances were passed through first and second readings and enrolled or tabled where committee stipulations required additional drafting. The council also accepted a deed in lieu of foreclosure for 43 Lowell Street and approved parade permits and minutes from previous meetings.

What’s next: Most adopted orders take effect as documented and staff will finalize any follow‑up implementation tasks such as site‑plan or engineering approvals required by specific orders.
