The Cobb County Board of Commissioners approved two American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding actions during its Nov. 12 meeting.
County staff asked the board to reallocate $2,750,890 from the Powers Ferry Road/Interstate North Parkway bridge project (AR-15) to the "CDPH South Cobb Public Health Center Primary Care, Mental Health and Community Linkage Space Project" (project C106). "We ask the Board of Commissioners to approve the reallocation... in the amount of $2,750,890," staff said. Commissioner Sheffield moved the reallocation; the motion carried 5–0.
The board also approved an additional appropriation, not to exceed $206,000, of ARPA funds to support service projects designed to enhance mental, physical, and behavioral health services delivered by nonprofit organizations. Staff clarified eligibility concerns raised by commissioners and said the two nonprofits present were prior recipients of ARPA funds for food distributions and were eligible under the current proposal. The motion to approve the appropriation carried 5–0.
Staff authorized corresponding budget transactions and asked the chairwoman to execute necessary documents for both actions. The approvals were recorded before the board began the public-hearing agenda.
