Oklahoma County commissioners recognized the service of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated on the sorority's anniversary.
Commissioner Lowe welcomed and recognized three local alumni chapters and introduced Leticia Brandon, Southwestern Region president, who accepted the recognition on behalf of members. Brandon thanked the commission and recounted the sorority's founding on Nov. 12, 1922, and listed local chapters and programs (Operation Big Book Bag; Women’s Wellness Initiative; Project Cradle Care).
"Thank you, commissioner Lowe, and thank you, commissioners. On behalf of the members and affiliates of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated, thank you for honoring our sisterhood on our 100 and third anniversary," Leticia Brandon said.
Why it matters: The acknowledgment highlights long-running local nonprofit volunteer activity and community programs tied to education and health.
What happens next: No formal action was required; the recognition was ceremonial and the audience was invited to continue celebrating the sorority's region conference plans.
