Moorhead — The City Council recognized the Friends of the Moorhead Library on Nov. 10 for recent fundraising toward the Moorhead Public Library and community center project.
Lisa Vody, representing the Friends, told the council the group had "just recently provided an additional $12,500 donation after already providing a $25,000 donation" and that "we've raised about $1,800,000 in direct donations and pledges toward the project." Karen Jackwitz, the Friends' president, attended the meeting and described recent community events and an award-winning outreach program that helped boost support.
Mayor Shelley Carlson and council members thanked the volunteers and donors and encouraged continued community engagement as the project advances. No council action was required at the recognition; the remarks were intended to acknowledge donors and update the council on fundraising progress.
