The Elyria Planning Commission on Nov. 12 approved a replat for Windsor Place at 260 South Logan Street to allow a homeowner to extend a garage five feet while preserving the city's 20-foot side-yard clearance requirement.
Applicant Bob Yost told the commission the subdivision record showed a 25-foot setback on a fourplex at the corner of Chirac and Eldermeyer and that the owner is seeking a 5-foot westward garage extension that would still meet the 20-foot minimum. "We had a 25 foot side yard setback on, and our minimum is 20 feet, but we recorded it at 25," Yost said. He added the plat correction was required for the requested change.
Planning staff said a second revised staff report addressed two outstanding conditions: naming streets as private and clarifying the sub lot. "Both were addressed by the applicant," staff told the commission. Engineering and the fire department said they had no additional comments.
Commissioner Aiden moved to approve the replat and Commissioner Rivera seconded. The commission voted unanimously "aye," and the motion carried.
Chair Brubaker briefly rescinded an initial procedural vote earlier in the meeting to ensure proponents and opponents could be recognized before the final action was taken; the replat approval followed that procedural correction. The commission noted no further public hearings for the day and adjourned at the meeting's close.
