District facilities staff gave the board a multi-project construction update covering a new field house/athletic complex, football stadium work and other building repairs.
Speaker 5 described Project C (new field house/athletic complex), noting the canopy structure is erected and the binder layer of asphalt is down so the area is usable. The project will restore roughly 88 parking spaces previously fenced during construction. Staff described a detention basin installed to handle roof and parking-lot drainage, with a roughly 48-hour drawdown as required for permits.
Inside the new gym, staff said structural and mechanical work continues, with equipment plans that include 18 basketball goals, volleyball and batting-cage installations, and a multi-use rubber floor and turf strip for training activities. The weight room will expand from approximately 1,100 square feet to roughly 3,004 square feet. Staff also said electrical upgrades have been completed for the new building connection; remaining work is largely tying the new portion to the old system.
Speaker 5 said Project A (football stadium) has a temporary certificate of occupancy and is fully usable pending final grass coverage requirements (about 75% coverage required for final sign-off). Staff said many of the finishing items—awnings, final landscaping and minor punch-list items—remain and some closeout items may extend into spring.
Speaker 2 noted the district has applied for further funding from the Lilly Endowment and has won earlier phases; the later phase could provide "30 plus million dollars" to finish remaining projects if awarded. The board did not take votes on these status updates.
