Timnath — The Timnath Town Council on Nov. 11 formally welcomed and swore in Chris Jacobson as the town's new police captain.

Mayor Robert Oxmacher introduced Jacobson and praised his emphasis on trust, transparency and doing the right thing. Chief Scott provided a brief biography, noting Jacobson began as a cadet in Loveland, served as a deputy and canine handler in Boulder County and finished his prior post as a lieutenant overseeing specialized units including detectives, drug-task-force work and school resource officers. "I am beyond grateful that he chose to come here," Chief Scott said.

Jacobson took the oath of office in front of his wife, Tessa, and daughter, Tegan. As part of the oath he pledged to "faithfully execute the duties of the office of captain for the Town of Timnath...with honor, integrity, and fairness," and to "dedicate my efforts to the safety, trust, and well-being of the residents of the town of Timnath." Councilmembers and staff congratulated him following the ceremony.
