The Coppell City Council voted to remove the short‑term rental (STR) special use from the planned‑development zoning for 134 Turnberry Lane at the request of the property owner.

Planner Matt Steer explained the background of the request, saying the city’s Code of Ordinances (Chapter 12, Article 30) requires STRs to hold a special use permit in addition to registration. He said the home—previously permitted to rent one bedroom as an STR—has been converted back to a long‑term rental and the owner asked the city to remove the STR allowance from the PD. Steer told council the planning and zoning commission unanimously recommended approval of the revision.

Councilmember Prem Kumar moved to close the public hearing and approve the PD revision to remove the STR; Councilmember Nevills seconded. The mayor called the vote and recorded support from Walker, Carol, Nevills, Prem Kumar and Hill; the motion carried.

Staff noted notices were mailed within required distances (23 notices within 200 feet; 116 courtesy notices within 800 feet) and that outreach produced limited phone inquiries but no public speakers during the hearing.
