Greenview School staff described academic initiatives and enrichment programs at the South Euclid-Lyndhurst Board meeting, highlighting a daily PIE block (prevention, intervention and enrichment) that teachers use to pull small groups and accelerate student learning.
Miss Young (Greenview staff) said the PIE block lasts about 40 minutes each morning and that co-teaching, station teaching and literacy centers are being used to help students move from limited to basic and from basic to proficient levels. She also noted attendance incentives, a soon-to-open self-checkout kiosk in the school library and new after-school clubs including STEM and arts programs.
Music teacher Mr. Stamatis introduced a 27-member choir club and previewed two holiday songs the group will perform: "Feliz Navidad" and "Sleigh Ride." He said the choir meets weekly (Thursdays, about 2:30–3:20 p.m.) and will open for the district's 5th- and 6th-grade orchestra on Dec. 16 and then present a full concert in May.
Superintendent Dr. Capel presented the district’s inaugural ARC Impact awards, given quarterly to staff nominated by colleagues. Natalie Noah, a longtime teacher at Roan Elementary, was recognized for mentoring new teachers and work in social-emotional learning. Felicia White (known in the halls as "Miss V"), a student support specialist at Memorial Junior High, was also honored for leading with empathy and supporting students and families since joining the building in 2022.
Both award recipients thanked colleagues and administrators; Noah reflected on her long service to the district and White thanked coaches and leaders who helped her grow into her current role. The recognitions were celebrated on the public record before the board returned to business items.
