Erath County Commissioners on Nov. 10 took a series of routine operational actions: approving a TxDOT bridge-adoption memorandum of agreement for County Road 218 (Duffer Creek Bridge), authorizing an EMS student ride-out agreement, approving fencing and roadwork for precinct operations, and making a county board appointment.
On the bridge-adoption MOA, staff explained that TxDOT’s bridge-replacement program allows community members to adopt replaced bridges and that the standard memorandum lays out timelines and responsibilities. The court approved the MOA and authorized the county judge to sign the agreement.
The county approved a contract with the North Texas Paramedic Education Consortium to allow paramedic students to conduct ride-outs with Erath County EMS; county counsel and staff reviewed the contract and reported no issues. Commissioner Stevens moved to approve the contract; the motion passed.
Operational items approved included a $21,009.67 fencing quote for the Precinct 1 barn (Chad Hale bid) and authorization for Precinct 1 crews to clear an obstructed fence row and culvert on County Road 299 (property owner named as Ruby McElroy). The court also authorized Precinct 2 to use county equipment to search a private pit on County Road 384 for road material and approved entering into a contract with the landowner (ALCAD Cattle and Land Company) if usable material is found.
The court reappointed Commissioner Albert Ray to the Erath County Appraisal District Board of Directors for a new two-year term and approved administrative budget reallocations including moving a copier lease from indigent health care to a commissioners’ secretary budget shared by Precincts 2 and 4.
All motions passed by voice vote and will be memorialized in the minutes and relevant county files.
