Lewisburg — The Town Council on Nov. 10 swore in Robert Simmons as a full‑time police officer for the Lewisburg Police Department.

Mayor Christopher Neal asked Officer Simmons to come forward and administered the oath. Simmons repeated the oath, pledging to 'enforce the criminal laws of this state' and to 'faithfully and impartially execute the duties' of his office. Chief Lincoln and other council members acknowledged Simmons’ appointment; Chief Lincoln later noted staffing updates and said the department also added two part‑time officers.

The swearing‑in was added to the agenda by council motion earlier in the meeting and proceeded without objection.
