Lewisburg — The Town Council presented a proclamation recognizing November as Franklin County Hunger and Homeless Awareness Month and heard public comment from Miss Kegley of the Franklin County Interfaith Council about community events.
Mayor Neal read an abbreviated proclamation that noted the interfaith council’s mission to support people facing hunger, housing and health barriers and cited national observances. Miss Kegley, identified in the meeting as representing the Interfaith Council, described upcoming events: a vigil on Nov. 18 at Courthouse Square and a free Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 27 at the college from noon to 3 p.m. She told the council and audience, 'As of 12:00 today, we have 400 people at least coming for dinner' and said Job Corps students plan to volunteer.
The proclamation and public comment were recorded under the public‑comment and proclamation agenda items; council acknowledged the Interfaith Council’s work and encouraged attendance at the events.
