At the Hardin County Fiscal Court meeting on Nov. 10, Adam King, planning director, summarized recent land‑use and permitting activity. He said the board of adjustment approved permanent accessory dwellings including a roughly 1,000‑square‑foot unit on Fuller Road and an approximately 800‑square‑foot unit near South Dixie Highway. King said these accessory units are often used for caregivers or rental housing.
King reported 21 conditional use permits and 24 variances processed through the board of adjustment, eight zone changes by the planning commission and 18 staff reviews of nonresidential development plans. He said 82 plats had been recorded year‑to‑date (down from 105 in 2024) but that the county recorded 170 new lots this year, up from 126 last year. A large part of the most recent increase came from a new subdivision called Hidden Ridge (about 35 lots) and a 15‑lot auction plat on Salt River Road.
King also provided building‑permit numbers: 436 permits year‑to‑date and 84 single‑family starts this year, lower than previous years but consistent with regional market uncertainty. King invited the public to an open‑house presentation of the Glendale small‑area plan on Nov. 24 at Glendale Christian Church, and said the draft would be posted online the following day for public comment.
The planning presentation was informational; no zoning or ordinance changes were voted on at the session.
