Stephanie Givens, director of public works, briefed the fiscal court on solid-waste and recycling operations on Nov. 10. She reported deceased farm‑animal removals of 36 in September and 21 in October for 2025 and said totals are consistent with 2024 figures. Givens said the county’s free landfill service day previously saw 509 vehicles and roughly 279.95 tons of material and noted that document‑shred events draw strong public participation (October and November event vehicle/bag counts were recited).

Givens listed seven recycling trailer locations that operate 24 hours a day and reminded residents about the county’s monthly bulk‑item pickup provided by Platform Waste; residents can schedule up to three items by phone or email. She also reported daily route completion times (average route times of 3:36 in September and 3:56 in October) and daily tonnage averages (73.44 tons in September and 70.94 in October). Average landfill truck time was about 20 minutes in September and 18 minutes in October.

Givens encouraged residents to sign up for county text alerts by texting Hardin County to 91896 for updates on service changes and events. She also reminded the public that the landfill will be open on Nov. 29 and that regular curbside pickup schedules will run on Veterans Day.
