Atchison County commissioners on Nov. 10 approved a $195,300 first‑quarter budget adjustment for the Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) Division of Adult Services and voted to sign the document on behalf of the commission.
The finance director, Mark Seltner, presented three purchase items for approval. Commissioners approved a purchase order not to exceed $15,000 to Schwab Eaton (transcript also shows the name spelled 'Schwab Eton') for grading and drainage at the road and bridge facility; the work, the director said, had already been completed under a previously signed agreement.
The commission also approved payment of a BG Consultants engineering invoice for $4,904 tied to the project. The director noted that this final payment would exhaust allocated funds for that site.
Separately, the county authorized a purchase order to O'Keefe Wilson Abstracting for abstracting work on roughly 95 parcels in anticipation of the 2026 tax sale. The finance director referenced an invoice amount of $11,008.75 but the motion text recorded later in the meeting states $11,875; the transcript contains both figures. The director agreed to provide commissioners a parcel list before the tax‑sale filing.
The commission approved a mid‑year 'uplift' payment to ConvergeOne of approximately $6,001.47 to upgrade the county’s Microsoft security services after a recent security incident; the director said funds recovered following that incident cover the expense.
All fiscal approvals in the public portion of the meeting were recorded by voice vote and carried unanimously among the three commissioners present.
