At Monday’s meeting the Cascade City Council approved several routine and financial items in a series of votes.
Votes and actions at a glance
- Consent agenda: Council approved the consent agenda (minutes, library and park board minutes, claims) after members asked follow-up questions about an $800 invoice for Premier Window Cleaning for the library. Motion carried.
- General-obligation loan: Council opened and closed a public hearing on a proposed general-obligation loan agreement with no public comment and then approved related additional-action Resolution No. 100-6205 (motion by Gail; second by Delaney).
- Health insurance renewal: Council approved a renewal of health-insurance coverage effective Jan. 1, 2026, with Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield reflecting a 1.26% premium increase. Motion by Oliphant; second by Gail. Roll call vote recorded and carried.
- Ordinance (refuse rates) second reading: Council advanced Ordinance No. 4205 (Title VI, Chapter V, Section IX) amending refuse-collection rates to second reading. Councilmembers asked staff to review recent spring/fall cleanup billing and appliance-disposal charges from Republic (concerns that an appliance fee was near $80 on a vendor invoice) before final adoption. Motion carried.
- Economic development funding request: Council agreed to table a request from Cascade Economic Development for FY26 allocated funds until budget conversations early next year (motion by Oliphant, second by Hush).
- Adjournment: Meeting adjourned after reports and follow-up direction to staff.
