At its regularly scheduled meeting, the Marysville City Council approved several items on its agenda, including service and lease agreements with '1 Marysville,' a storm sewer dip repair, authorization to solicit auditors, and an appropriations ordinance totaling $305,296.88.
Council votes and actions
- Service agreement with '1 Marysville': Council moved and seconded to approve the service agreement after committee review; the motion passed by voice vote (first motioned SEG 501–516).
- Lease with '1 Marysville': Council approved the lease agreement by motion and second.
- 15th Street storm sewer dip repair (Hall Brothers): Council reviewed a Hall Brothers proposal and approved the repair; staff noted the contractor had previously estimated $25,000–$30,000 and this proposal adds roughly $3,700. Staff said any additional settlement repairs would be addressed when the contractor returns in spring 2026.
- Auditor procurement: Council authorized an RFP/RFQ to solicit auditors for 2025, noting the solicitation will emphasize qualifications.
- Appropriations Ordinance No. 3859: The council presented Appropriations Ordinance No. 3859 in the amount of $305,296.88. A roll-call vote was conducted and the ordinance was adopted. Roll-call names were read aloud and council members answered in the affirmative.
- Consent agenda: Approved by voice vote.
Alston Street one-way draft and public notification
Staff presented a draft resolution to make Alston Street East between 10th and 11th streets one-way near the elementary school. Staff and the street committee previously discussed the change with the school's principal but had not yet mailed notices to the affected homeowners. Council discussed notification options — certified mail, regular mail, door-to-door contact, or a public meeting — and agreed to publish the draft and send mail to the roughly five affected residences and to the school. Council took no final action to adopt the resolution at this meeting.
City projects and operations
City Administrator Josh reported updates on ongoing public works projects: the 11th Road sewer force main is connected and concrete work is complete with sidewalk and ditch punch-list items remaining; the North 15th Street storm sewer project is approximately 90% complete; the 15th and Carolina intersection will remain closed for 2–3 weeks with driveway access maintained; and staff are preparing holiday decorations and tree lights.
Executive session and adjournment
The council voted to recess into a 10-minute executive session to discuss personnel matters under K.S.A. 75-4319. After the executive session the council returned and adjourned.
Quotes
City Administrator Josh said the 11th Road force main is connected and that concrete work had been poured, leaving sidewalks and punch-list items as the primary remaining work.
On the executive session motion, the mover recited the statutory authority: "to discuss personal matters of non-elected personnel discussion on specific personnel matters, not general personnel policies exception K.S.A. 75-4319" (mover's statement as recorded in the meeting).
What’s next
Staff will publish the Alston Street draft resolution and notify affected residents and the school; project contractors will schedule the Hall Brothers repairs; the parks and recreation committee will review any Feld Field backstop plans that come forward. Appropriations Ordinance No. 3859 is effective as adopted by council.
