The Burlington Community School District board approved a contract with Vector Solutions to provide a cloud-based training platform for mandatory staff compliance and optional student well-being courses.
Lacey Johnson, who presented the proposal, said the platform will let administrators assign, track and report staff and student trainings from a single system. "It's going to allow administrators to easily assign, track, and report online training for both staff as well as students, simplifying that compliance piece all housed in one platform," Johnson said.
Johnson said the district would benefit from consortium pricing with neighboring districts and noted the service includes automatic two-year renewals; the presenter indicated the contract price would escalate about 5% each year if specific consortium terms change. A board member asked whether the training satisfies teacher licensure renewal requirements; Johnson replied that mandatory trainings in the system can be used for that purpose.
The motion to approve the Vector Solutions agreement was made and seconded; the record shows one abstention (S5) and the motion passed. The abstention was entered before the roll call concluded. Implementation will be overseen by HR and principals, who will work with Johnson to determine which student-facing modules are appropriate.
Next steps: staff will finalize contract execution and work with principals to identify student trainings to deploy and assign district logins and reporting protocols.
