The Diversity, Inclusivity & Social Equity (DICE) board presented an annual update to the Northglenn City Council outlining 2025 activities and a proposed 2026 work plan.
Chair Chris Cimino and Vice-Chair Ryan Easterling Babin described a year of public events and outreach: they listed guest speakers (including representatives from Anythink Library and city staff), the expansion of Juneteenth into a standalone community event, sponsorship partnerships (King Soopers noted), the June bridal pride event that drew about 1,300 attendees, sensory-backpack stations at city events, distribution of multilingual immigration "red cards" in partnership with the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, and several proclamations the board helped sponsor (mental-health month, pride month, Juneteenth, Hispanic Heritage Month, seat-belt day, transgender awareness month).
For 2026 the board proposed several initiatives: launch of monthly awareness campaigns tied to DEI themes and partnerships with schools, libraries and cultural organizations; a "safe business" certification program with a budgeted $600 for stickers to signal participating businesses that have completed training and can provide assistance to residents in crisis; exploration of a multicultural festival modeled partly on larger regional events; continued partnership with Northland Arts and Humanities Foundation; and an emphasis on sponsorships to offset city costs.
Council members thanked the board for community engagement and asked clarifying questions about the safe-business program, sponsorships, and upcoming Noel Northglenn events. The board said officer elections will be held in January, and that they plan outreach and a community survey to help prioritize future programming.
Council voted unanimously later in the meeting to appoint Abby Hosterman to the DICE board (resolution CR110).
