The Franklin County School Board voted to approve multiple district policies during its meeting, and it moved to receive and file September and October intercategory amendments and the October monthly financial report.
Mr. Williams moved to approve the package of policies (identified in the meeting as policies 1.7, 1.901, 4.2, 4.403 and 5.11). Board discussion before the vote focused on policy 1.7 (district goals): trustees debated language regarding technology, transition between elementary and secondary levels, and whether to explicitly name athletics, fine arts and extracurriculars. After editing suggestions, the board approved the policies by voice vote.
On finance, Ms. Jenny reported that intercategory amendments mainly reflect federal grants aligned in ePlan and noted healthy revenue indicators (sales tax and property tax collection up). The board moved to "receive and file" the intercategory amendments and the October 2025 monthly report; the motion carried by voice vote.
Trustees also received project and maintenance cost updates and were reminded ESSER funds are no longer available, increasing the district’s need to be proactive about building maintenance budgets. A compensation policy change (5.11) was discussed; members noted the change follows a state law amendment and is not retroactive.
Actions recorded at the meeting were routine approvals and no litigation or major contract awards were enacted.
