District operations staff (Speaker 1) told the board that the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) accepted the district's trust fund application and will perform a limited site assessment on the referenced property. "They will need to do a limited, site assessment. Basically...they come in and they do soil boring and put in monitoring wells," Speaker 1 said.

Speaker 1 explained KDHE's follow-up process: after installing monitoring wells, KDHE will monitor for about one year; if contamination is detected, they may require cleanup work and arrange contractors to address it, or they may conclude no further action is needed. The operations staff said timing for the borings was not yet known and that Chris Anderson would provide scheduling updates when available.
