The Wright County Board of Supervisors handled routine agenda business and several formal actions at its Nov. 3 meeting, approving the tentative agenda and prior minutes before moving into substantive items.
During public comment, speakers thanked the board for its pipeline-related work and asked the board to consider financial support for an amicus brief. The board later approved a $500 contribution from LATCF funds to support the Iowa State Association of Counties' amicus brief; the motion was made by Supervisor Luz and seconded by Supervisor Ellis and carried.
The board proclaimed November 2025 as 'Operation GreenLake' on a motion by Bosch, seconded by Ellis, and the motion carried. Supervisors also approved the monthly revenue report from the Wright County sheriff showing $2,377.83 in county car service fees and mileage, $240 in permit fees and $102 in copy fees for a total of $2,719.83.
Chair appointed Greg Pool to fill a vacancy on the Wright County Conservation Board after discussion about geographic representation from Goldfield, Clarion and Belmond; the appointment was made by motion and approved by voice vote.
Tony Nichols, Wright County assessor, presented family farm application data for the 2025 assessment year and said staff recommended allowing 51 applications and disallowing 17. A supervisor moved that the chair sign the allow/disallow forms in accordance with staff recommendations; motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Later in the agenda the board recessed to convene as Drainage Trustees (covered separately) and then reconvened as the Board of Supervisors to receive the Elderbridge annual update. The meeting concluded with a motion, second and voice vote to enter closed session under the Iowa Code to discuss records exempt from public disclosure.
