At the Nov. 10 meeting the Big Rapids City Commission took several routine actions.

Appointment: The mayor nominated Jeffrey Gaylor to the Zoning Board of Appeals; the commission approved the nomination by voice vote.

Real‑estate contract: The commission voted to accept McNally Enterprises as the city’s realtor for another two‑year term. Commissioners asked that strategic‑plan discussion include a review of city property strategy (the Hanchette property and an active parking‑lot listing were mentioned).

Property listing price: The commission approved reducing the asking price for land behind the old post office after staff reported minimal buyer interest.

Wastewater plant doors: City staff explained that eight exterior metal doors at the wastewater treatment plant are corroded and failing; superintendent Jake Rennie prepared the bid specifications. The commission accepted the recommended bid for replacement of eight door assemblies (including hardware and closures) on a motion that carried.

Generator maintenance: After a prior low bid proved unreliable, staff said they re‑bid generator maintenance and received two bids; staff recommended Wolverine Power, a company the city has used in the past. The commission voted to award the generator maintenance contract to Wolverine Power.

All procurement votes were approved; some were decided by voice vote and others recorded by roll call. No contracts requiring immediate additional appropriation were finalized on Nov. 10.
