Muscatine County supervisors reviewed three applicants for two openings on the County Historic Preservation Commission and approved two appointments during the Nov. 10 meeting.

Administration staff said three applications were received and described candidates’ backgrounds, including Felice Shield (archaeology background), Todd Stanmer (local historical group involvement) and David Lurch (retired from a sheriff’s office). The board selected David Lurch and another applicant for terms expiring Jan. 1, 2027 and Jan. 1, 2028; supervisors said they appreciated having multiple qualified applicants.

The appointments were made by motion and voice vote. Staff said commissioners’ decisions about reappointments in late December could create additional openings in January.
