The Michigan House on Nov. 7 adopted a series of ceremonial and commemorative measures.
House Resolution 134 was read and adopted to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps; Representatives Robinson and Wolford gave floor remarks honoring Marines’ service and traditions.
The chamber adopted House Resolution 206 recognizing Michigan Historical Music Week and House Resolution 208 declaring Nov. 7 as Victims of Communism Day, both accompanied by member remarks. Representative Roth introduced House Resolution 213 commemorating the 50th anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald; the measure was adopted and copies were requested to be sent to maritime museums and Mariners Church of Detroit.
House Resolution 210 (Community Foundation Week) and House Resolution 211 (Michigan Assisted Living Month) were taken up and adopted by the House, with Representative Price noting the size and economic contribution of the assisted-living industry in Michigan.
House Resolution 212, urging the U.S. Congress to consider procurement language to strengthen protections against the early retirement of the A-10 Thunderbolt II fleet, was read and referred to the committee on government operations.
