The commission approved a $185,218.26 estimate on Nov. 6 to modernize the commission chambers, including new ceiling tiles, lighting, painting, carpet and new furniture/AV installation. Public Works presented three agreements covering architectural/lighting design (BHS), furniture/carpet procurement (DesignCentral) and AV/IT systems (Ready Systems).
John Ellerman, public‑works, said the project fits within the $250,000 CIP allocation and staff recommended moving forward to begin work promptly so that the commission chambers modernization coincides with related building window work. Commissioners asked about schedule and timelines for furniture delivery and carpet installation; staff said items could take several weeks but that the plan was to complete work before the new‑window schedule in early 2026.
A motion to approve the total estimate and authorize signature of the agreements was moved and seconded; commissioners voted in favor and staff were authorized to execute the contracts and begin ordering materials. The commission discussed minor change‑order jurisdiction and agreed staff would return with any material change‑orders for approval.
