Chair Arejo used the Planning Commission business section to urge City Council action on filling vacancies across citizen advisory groups, saying several commissions and committees have at least one vacancy and that some bodies operate near quorum thresholds.
"Various people either in public hearings, in public testimony, or in a letter have requested that members of the City Council appoint and use their due diligence to fill in the citizen advisory groups," Chair Arejo said, noting that Measure O and other advisory groups have unfilled positions and that vacancies reduce the effectiveness of the commissions.
Community Development staff member Mr. Pearson told the commission the Nov. 20 meeting is expected to be canceled and that the commission will next meet on Dec. 4, 2025; staff will bring the 2026 commission calendar to the December meeting.
No formal action was taken; the item was an informational request and a public reminder for council members to consider appointing members to open positions on citizen advisory groups. The commission adjourned at approximately 6:30 p.m.
