The Villa Park Garden Commission agreed on Nov. 6 to advance a recommendation to the Village Board to consider designating the parcel at Julia and Villa avenues as a park site, and tabled formal action until the commission’s regular meeting on Nov. 20 so a written recommendation and any supporting materials can be completed.

Chair Steve Dela Rosa opened discussion about unfinished business from the prior meeting and asked staff to describe the next steps. Tim, the commission’s staff liaison, told commissioners a "proposed resolution" and an official recommendation form must be prepared and submitted to the Village Board for consideration. Tim said the commission should “take a proposed resolution to the board to ask them to consider it” and submit the recommendation form to move the item forward.

Commissioners agreed to complete the recommendation form and return the item to the Nov. 20 agenda so the commission’s action is on the public record before it goes to the board. Commissioner Lynn Smith moved to table discussion of the property at Julia and Villa avenues until the Nov. 20 regular meeting; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.

The commission emphasized the filing and notice steps required before the Village Board can act, and assigned follow-up for the recommendation form to appear on the next meeting’s agenda. No final board-level action was taken at the Nov. 6 meeting; the matter remains pending and scheduled for further consideration on Nov. 20.
