The Villa Park Garden Commission voted unanimously on Nov. 6 to spend its $200 allotment on giveaway items for the Dec. 12 town-hall. The approved purchase will fund small bottles (discussed for honey samples) and seed packets as promotional ‘swag’ to distribute at the event.

Commissioners discussed logistics and timing — staff said orders must be in by Nov. 14 — and suggested quantities (a commissioner suggested 125–150 units as a planning target). Commissioner Lynn Smith moved to spend $200 on giveaways (bottles and seeds); the motion was seconded by Commissioner Patrice Gallagher and approved by voice vote. During the vote commissioners recorded the following: Commissioner Lynn Smith—aye; Commissioner Patrice Gallagher—aye; Chair Steve Dela Rosa—aye.

The commission also discussed coordinating with Commissioner Pete Soltis about bottled honey donations and the option of glass jars; staff indicated Cheryl can handle ordering and labeling, and that the commission can decorate its table at the town hall. The motion authorizes purchasing swag; it does not commit additional funds beyond the $200 approved.
