During the public comment period an attendee urged the board to explain widespread absenteeism among appointed members and expressed concern that the city has not been working on an update to the comprehensive plan adopted Oct. 15, 2019.
The commenter said the comprehensive plan should have been updated sooner and criticized the replacement of the zoning map and zoning code tied to the 2019 plan, calling for ongoing evaluation and public reporting on changes and corrections. "We replaced our entire zoning map and zoning code when it was passed, which is, for one thing, was unnecessary and should not have been done," the speaker said in the meeting record.
The commenter linked the issue to recent apparent disorganization among local boards and commissions and named the Environmental Stewardship board, Historic Preservation Commission and Transportation Mobility Board as affected bodies. The speaker asked the board to investigate and to ensure accountability and ongoing reporting on plan updates and stewardship actions.
The board did not act on the public comment, and staff noted that under Colorado open meetings law the board cannot discuss or take action on issues raised during public comment at the same meeting.
