The PHED Committee voted 3–0 on Nov. 6 to forward a favorable recommendation for CR110-2025, a resolution expressing Prince George’s County support for motion pictures, visual arts, commercial productions and other creative industry investment.

Sponsor testimony described the resolution as a formal county endorsement to position Prince George’s County as a regional hub for creative talent and arts‑based economic development. The committee heard that the state of Maryland already offers a film production activity tax credit that can award up to $10,000,000 per project and that the fiscal‑year 2026 statewide budget for the tax credit was $12,000,000; the committee’s budget office said additional incentives could generate indirect fiscal benefits by stimulating the creative economy and broadening the county tax base.

The Arts and Humanities Commission submitted a letter recommending additional considerations be added to the resolution. The county executive’s office told the committee it supports the legislation with amendments. A motion to recommend draft 2 favorably was moved and seconded and carried on a roll call vote recorded as Chair DeNoga, Council member Adam Stafford and Council member Olson voting aye.
