Madison County commissioners approved a proclamation at their Nov. 5 meeting recognizing Veterans Day and encouraging county participation in Operation Greenlight.
Alvin Clausen, Marion County government relations manager, introduced the proclamation and described Operation Greenlight — a National Association of Counties initiative asking communities to light public buildings and bridges green in support of veterans. Clausen noted county buildings and local bridges in Salem and Woodburn would be lit, and urged residents to participate by placing green lights at homes.
Commissioners praised veterans and county staff who are military veterans, saying the county benefits from employees’ continued public service. A motion to approve the proclamation was moved and seconded, and the board voted unanimously, with commissioners recorded as saying “aye.”
The proclamation recognizes Nov. 11, 2025 as Veterans Day in Marion County, designates Nov. 5–12, 2025 as Green Light for Veterans Week, and encourages residents to thank and support veterans and their families.
