The Orem City Planning Commission approved preliminary plat for the MAG Subdivision (Plat A) at 537 North 500 West on Nov. 5, allowing an existing 0.56‑acre parcel with one home to be divided into two buildable single‑family lots in the R‑7.5 zone.
Staff said both resulting lots would exceed the zone’s minimum 7,500‑square‑foot lot size and meet frontage and setback requirements; the existing house on Lot 1 will remain. No off‑site infrastructure improvements were required because curb, gutter and sidewalk exist along 500 West.
A commissioner moved for preliminary plat approval and a second was received; the commission voted in the affirmative.
Next steps: The applicants will submit final plat materials and meet any standard technical requirements (title, utility easements, recording documents) before a final plat is recorded.
