Wright County commissioners unanimously approved Resolution 25-72 on Nov. 4 urging repeal of Minnesota's moratorium on nuclear energy production.

Brent (staff presenter) described the resolution as part of a multi-county push to allow construction of small modular or microreactors, which the resolution describes as small, semitrailer-sized units that could power data centers and other high-energy users. Commissioners who represent the host county of a nuclear power plant said the county views nuclear as safe, reliable base-load energy and supported adding Wright County's name to other counties seeking a change in state policy.

Commissioner Moyna moved to approve the resolution; Commissioner Holland seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
