The North Pike School District board unanimously approved the FY26 consolidated federal programs budget after a presentation from district staff.
Miss Hallmark, addressing the board, said, "Well, we've budgeted 85% as we do each year. Everything's kinda 100% funding and which means we'll get another percentage back, we'll be fairly close to where we were last year. Did have to do a little bit of moving around, make sure salaries are gonna be covered. I don't wanna depend on the the additional allocation to cover salaries." She added that the district expects to monitor numbers closely after the ESSER funds roll off.
The budget presentation noted staff reallocated some items so that, even if the district does not receive additional federal allocations, salaries would be covered. Following the presentation, a board member moved to approve the consolidated federal programs budget; the motion was seconded and the board voted "Aye." The transcript records the motion, a second and a unanimous "Aye" vote, but individual roll-call votes were not recorded in the minutes.
The approved budget reflects a precautionary budgeting stance designed to limit reliance on one-time federal allocations and to prioritize continuing salary coverage. District leaders said they will continue to watch program allocations and adjust as final federal awards are confirmed.
The board did not specify any additional conditions or amendments to the budget during the meeting. Staff said they are prepared to answer questions and report back to the board if allocation amounts change.
