Riverton — The Riverton City Council on Nov. 4 approved claims, manual checks and payroll totaling $2,063,369.33 after a report from the finance committee.
The finance committee recommended payment of $1,205,664.84 in claims, manual checks of $25,585.02 and payroll and liabilities for Oct. 17 and Oct. 31 totaling $832,119.47, for a combined total of $2,063,369.33. Councilwoman Karen Johnson moved to approve the consideration of claims; Councilwoman Rebecca Pearson Lewis seconded the motion. The consent agenda passed with the customary voice vote.
The council also noted one contingency tied to the consent agenda: the Little Hands Big Hearts daycare license approval remains contingent on final state childcare licensing approval. City staff said they had not yet received the state’s final confirmation.
Why it matters: Approving claims and payroll is ordinary business, but the consent agenda also reiterates how the city coordinates local approvals with state licensing and how large regular cash flows — payroll and vendor payments — are formally recorded and affirmed by council action.
What council said: Councilman Eric Carr summarized the finance committee’s recommendation and confirmed the totals. The motion to approve carried on a voice vote; no roll-call tally was read into the minutes.
Looking ahead: Council will continue to review city claims in committee and on consent as part of its regular monthly cycle.
