Daytona Beach Shores officials told the commission they completed implementation of the federal 287(g) program and received a federal reimbursement of $167,515.

"You may remember that, last year, the Florida legislature compelled all police departments and sheriff's offices to comply with the 287 g program to, to work with ICE on immigration enforcement. You all passed, and we entered into our agreement," a city official said. The implementation was led by Lieutenant Catherine Goetz, who "headed that up," officials said. Supervisors and investigators were trained and the program was operational before Oct. 1.

A city official said, "on September 30, federal government deposited a $167,515 into our account as reimbursement for vehicles, training, and equipment. And we were able to roll that into our reserves." A commissioner asked that thanks be passed to Lieutenant Goetz for organizing the effort.
