Oxford officials used part of the council meeting to swear in Lincoln B. Wolfe as a new police officer.

Chief Jones introduced Wolfe and recounted his service history: Wolfe grew up in northwest Ohio, served 12 years on active duty in the U.S. Army at locations including Fort Bliss and Schofield Barracks, and has most recently served as an army recruiter in Dayton. He also completed the Butler Tech Police Academy using the GI Bill and passed the state licensing exam.

The law director administered the oath of office during the public council meeting. Wolfe said he was “just excited to start,” and staff told council Wolfe will wear badge number 54 and begin field training with a field-training officer next week after completing a final period of policy reading.

Chief Jones noted Wolfe has worked on station in administrative, plainclothes roles while preparing for the state test and is transitioning to reading Lexipol policy and field training. The mayor and council members congratulated Wolfe and thanked his family for attending the ceremony.

What happened next: Officer Wolfe will complete remaining policy reading and begin his field-training program next week. The council honored the ceremonial swearing-in during the public portion of the meeting.
