A Charlotte County code‑enforcement officer told the magistrate on Nov. 5 that inspections at 6454 Scott Street — Bread of Life Mission Inc. — found multiple health‑and‑safety and zoning violations, including outside storage and junk‑like conditions, accessory structures being used for living purposes, a reported bed‑bug infestation, and multiple unpermitted structures and utility installations.
Officer Jason Czecholinski offered photographs and described tractor trailers with unpermitted plumbing and electrical and other conditions the county called a prohibited use of the property. Mitchell French of the Department of Health was noted as present for potential comment; the property representative, Brenda Jones, said the property manager had been working with code staff and the health department and planned resident education on bed‑bug issues.
Special Magistrate Hecktarth found the county had proven the violations and ordered the owners to bring the property into compliance within 30 days. The order states that thereafter the county may impose a $500 daily fine for each day the violation continues, issue a five‑year cease‑and‑desist order for repeat zoning violations and seek abatement with costs added to fines.
The magistrate encouraged the property to work with county staff to remediate and reiterated that, while improvement had been reported by the representative, full compliance remained required to avoid substantial fines and potential abatement.
