The City of Rome Planning Board voted to issue a SEQRA negative declaration and to approve a two‑lot minor subdivision on Hogg Road (Tax ID 257000‑1‑48). The matter included both the environmental review (SEQR) and the subdivision plat review.
Sam Platt, representing the Meyers from Moore Land Surveying, described Lot 1 as just under two acres and Lot 2 as just over 11 acres; both are vacant and meet road‑frontage requirements. "We're just taking, subdividing out, you know, just under 2 acres for Lot 1 and just over 11 acres here for Lot 2," Platt said.
Staff told the board the proposed parcel dimensions comply with zoning minimums but that wetlands are present on one of the parcels and may affect future development potential. Staff also noted the property is within the New York State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) archaeological buffer and advised the applicant to confirm with SHPO whether archaeological work is necessary before ground disturbance. "Our department recommends issuing a SEQR negative declaration via uncoordinated review and approving the proposed subdivision plat as presented," the staff member said.
Board members moved to issue the negative declaration and approve the subdivision review; both motions carried unanimously. The board advised the applicant to be aware that wetlands and SHPO requirements could limit future development and to coordinate further with staff before any construction.
