Richland County Council on Nov. 4 adopted two resolutions: one honoring Limitless Community Development (formerly Latino Community Development) for its community programs, services and cultural events, and a second proclaiming Veterans Day (Nov. 11) and recognizing county employees and residents who are veterans.
The communications director read the resolution honoring Limitless Community Development, which noted the nonprofit’s IRS recognition in 2010, programs for first-time homeowners and cultural events including a 3 Kings Day celebration. Tanya Rodriguez Hodges, director of community development for Limitless Community Development, addressed the council and thanked the members; she described program accomplishments including food distribution, homeowner education, accessibility ramp construction and community events.
The council also adopted a Veterans Day resolution recognizing the region’s proximity to military installations (including Fort Jackson and McIntyre Joint National Guard Base) and announcing a Veterans Day ceremony scheduled for Nov. 7 to honor veterans who work within county government. Administrator Brown reminded the council of the Nov. 7 event and explained the county’s participation in Operation Green Light from Nov. 4–11 to illuminate select county buildings in green to show support for veterans.
Both resolutions were approved by motion and roll-call vote; no public comment was recorded for these items.
