The Decatur County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 3 approved a subgrant agreement to accept $1,950,000 in REDI grant funds for construction of a new building and site improvements at the Decatur County Fairgrounds.

The commissioners voted by voice to authorize the county to enter a subgrant agreement with Accelerate Rural Indiana Regional Development Authority, which will pass the REDI funds to the county. The motion carried with all commissioners saying “aye.”

County officials described the grant as funding for a new fairgrounds building and other improvements. A fundraising committee has also raised community contributions, which county staff reported at roughly $460,000 to date. Commissioners and staff said the fundraising committee continues outreach to local businesses and donors.
