The Decatur County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 3 approved a mapping enhancement subscription for the county 911 dispatch center intended to improve radius mapping and dispatch tools.

Leanne (911 staff) described the purchase as an addendum to the county’s existing subscription through the sheriff’s department. The contract requires an initial startup fee of about $5,000 for a communications cloud connector and an annual subscription of $7,500; the five‑year total quoted was $42,000. Commissioners approved the agreement by motion and voice vote.

County staff said the subscription is part of the broader Vesta 901 product rollout for the county’s new 911 system. Funding for the contract will come from previously appropriated funds the county has set aside for the 911 upgrade — a combination the presenter said includes state and county appropriations already planned for the project.

The presenter said the county expects to pay some of the costs before year‑end and may seek appropriation next year to complete the full upgrade. Commissioners asked for copies of the contract and for the vendor to provide materials for the next meeting.
