Representatives from the Southeastern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (SERPC) and HWC presented grant acceptance and contract documents to begin a countywide comprehensive planning process. Commissioners approved both the SERPC grant acceptance and the HWC contract by voice vote on Nov. 3.

The county will first accept grant funds through SERPC and then execute a contract with HWC to perform comprehensive plan services, county staff said. The work will include focus groups and public opportunities for input; county staff asked residents to watch for public engagement opportunities once the consultant work begins.

Commissioners approved motions to accept the SERPC contract and to contract HWC; both motions carried on voice votes. County administration said they will provide updates on the consultant schedule and public meeting dates as the process begins.
